Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg has announced that he will be opening a Bored Ape-themed dessert restaurant similar to Bored and Hungry.
The restaurant will be named Dr. Bombay’s Sweet Exploration. It will be in partnership with Food Fighters Universe, a firm owned by Andy Nguyen, Kevin Seo, and Phillip Huynh, and will be based in Los Angeles.
The announcement described it as an “immersive retail dessert experience.” Dr. Bombay is the name of Snoop Dogg’s Bored Ape Yacht Club avatar.
Although the restaurant isn’t an official Yuga Lab establishment, holders of Yuga Labs NFTs have exclusive rights to use their assets for commercial purposes. So, Snoop Dogg can use his Bored Ape NFT in this manner.
Snoop Dogg’s son, Cordell Broadus, is also involved in the restaurant initiative. In a release about the restaurant, he said, “Food Fighters Universe is bridging food and Web3 and blazing a trail with real-life utility for NFTs. It’s the future of the restaurant industry, and my dad and I are thrilled to join the team and utilize their expertise to bring Dr. Bombay to life.”
This isn’t the first Bored Apes-themed restaurant. Bored and Hungry already do this same thing with its restaurant featuring BAYC and MAYC branding and decor.
However, Food Fighters is planning to take it up a notch by launching an NFT collection that will benefit its customers.
Snoop Dogg and NFTs
This is another step in Snoop Dogg’s involvement with NFTs. The rapper is one of the biggest celebrities in the NFT space. Apart from owning a Bored Ape, he has also collaborated with the Clay Nation and The Sandbox.
Additionally, he also released NFTs based on the Nyan cat meme. Last year, the rapper also announced that he is Cozomo de’ Medici, the pseudonymous NFT collector on Twitter with millions worth of assets in his collection.
