State-Level Bitcoin Initiatives

Two states lead the U.S. BTC push. Pennsylvania wants to put 10% of state funds into BTC through its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Act. Texas, the eighth-largest economy worldwide, plans a BTC reserve using private donations.

“The bitcoin will come from donations from Texans, U.S.-based companies, and other sources of existing state resources,” explains Lee Bratcher, president of the Texas Blockchain Council. “No taxpayer funds will be spent on buying bitcoin in order to maximize the chances of the bill passing.”

Federal Reserve’s Position

The Fed’s stance on BTC remains firm. “We’re not allowed to own Bitcoin. The Federal Reserve Act says what we can own, and we’re not looking for a law change,” Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell stated.

International Perspectives

Other countries watch the U.S. Bitcoin strategy closely. Hong Kong and Germany might create their own reserves to stay competitive. Former German Finance Minister Christian Lindner noted, “The new Trump administration is pursuing an extremely progressive policy on crypto-assets such as BTC. In Washington, there is even consideration of the Federal Reserve including crypto-assets alongside currencies and gold in its reserves.”

Market Impact Assessment

Bitwise’s Jeff Park sees a slim chance (under 10%) of a U.S. Bitcoin strategic reserve in 2025. Still, he says this presents “the only math in which BTC can reach $1 million by 2025.” Recent crypto market volatility shows BTC at $94,000, down from its $108,000 peak.

Future Implications

State and federal BTC reserves could change how we use cryptocurrency. More regions explore reserve plans, strengthening BTC’s role in global finance. Will it be able to bring Bitcoin to 1 million? Only time will tell. Local efforts and worldwide competition may speed up its path to the goal.
