BRICS: Russia, Putin, & Carlson Saga
The interview comes at a time when the US and other Western allies are looking to counter Russia, China, and BRICS. Russia, with the help of BRICS countries, is building a new payment system for cross-border transactions without integrating the US dollar. Around 20 countries have already agreed to be a part of the new BRICS payment system when it is launched.
Therefore, the timing of the interview did not sit well with the US as Russia and BRICS are looking to topple the dollar. His motive for interviewing Putin is to “inform the American public” about the “other part of the world,” he said. Carlson made it clear that he does not support Russia or Putin but is only informing the American public about the happenings.
Also, unconfirmed reports are making the rounds that the European Union wants to ban Carlson from interviewing Putin. Moreover, these are only speculations as the EU has not taken an official stand against Carlson.
