The investments in AI-stocks in the last few years has focussed more on GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit), and companies that aid GPU manufacturing. Nvidia (NVDA) is the clear leader in this scenario, with Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD) following behind. Memory chip companies, such as Micron (MU) and SK Hynix, have also benefitted from the AI boom. While GPUs are the core computing power of most AI workload, things could change when CPU (Central Processing Unit)-centric agentic AI comes into play. Let’s discuss if AMD’s stock price can hit the $1000 mark after agentic AI becomes more mainstream.
Will AMD Stock Price Hit $1000 If Agentic AI Takes Over?

AMD is a unique company in today’s scenario. Nvidia (NVDA) focusses mainly on GPU manufacturing. Intel, meanwhile, is a CPU giant. AMD, however, has its fingers in both pies. This gives AMD and edge over most competitors, especially in an AI-centric world.
AMD CEO Lisa Su has said that agentic AI will change the way computing power is distributed. CPUs will take far more load for AI computation than they currently do. Agentic AI perform tasks that are more CPU-intensive than GPUs. Future AI platforms and workload will require far more CPU power than the current chatbot-style infrastructure.
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan has also reiterated the AMD CEO’s views on agentic AI potentially changing the tide. While speaking at Computex Taipei 2026, Tan stated that agentic AI platforms will increase demand for CPUs. Kevork Kechichian, executive vice president and general manager of Intel’s Data Center Group, stated, “For agentic AI, the CPU orchestrates the show.“

If agentic AI takes off, AMD stands a lot to gain. The company has already reportedly already asked manufacturing partners to increase production capacity. Such a development could potentially push AMD’s stock price beyond the $1000 mark.
