Advanced Micro Devices, Inc (AMD) saw increased price action on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. AMD’s stock price closed 3.04% (15.36 points) higher on Wednesday, but has faced a 0.57% (2.99 points) correction in the pre-market hours. AMD’s price surge came after Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jean Hu said that the company could potentially see a market opportunity of $2-$3 trillion by the end of this decade. Citi analyst Atif Malik has maintained his “buy” rating for AMD stock, and target it to hit $575, an upside of more than 10% from current price levels.
Why Is Wall Street Bullish On AMD?

Wall Street analysts have been quite bullish on AMD stock, putting forward a higher price target. AMD has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI boom that has taken the market by storm. AI investments have skyrocketed and data centers have become the new real estate. The trend is expected to continue over the coming years.
The coming of agentic AI is expected to further propel AMD’s position in the market. Unlike generative AI that relies more on GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) power, agentic AI relies more on CPU (Central Processing Unit) power. AMD being a CPU heavyweight may play a significant role when agentic AI takes center stage.
AMD is also one of the few companies that can compete with Nvidia (NVDA), the current market leader. This puts AMD in a strong position for future growth. AMD even claims that its recent range of AI chips can outperform Nvidia’s offerings. If there is any truth to the claim, the company could see a massive adoption curve.
