Throughout the last year, the digital asset market has noted some incredible highs. Specifically, it observed the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) grant the inaugural Spot Bitcoin ETF approval in January. Moreover, that led to a price surge for BTC, reaching $73,000 in March.

Those important developments have not ceased, as Coinbase has recently unveiled its integration of the Bitcoin Lightning Network through a Lightspark partnership. Indeed, the latter revealed the collaboration that will see Coinbase users obtain all the benefits that come from the Bitcoin layer-2 network.

The Bitcoin Lightning Network allows individuals to make BTC transactions that are both cost-efficient and fast. This occurs by transactions are moved off of the main blockchain. Therefore, the offloading of transaction traffic in the core Bitcoin network can move much faster and with less congestion.

Lightspark notes that they have worked for nearly two years to “build our platform as the best enterprise-grade entry point to the Lighting Network on the market.” However, the development is set to also aid the Bitcion Lightning network as a whole. Indeed, the integration is set to “impact the overall network usage at a time when it’s most needed,” the announcement stated.
