According to cryptocurrency analysis firm Arkham, buying coal in the online game RuneScape would have got you better results than Ethereum (ETH). RuneScape’s coal rose from 150 GP in May 2025 to nearly 300 GP in January of 2026. However, the online game resource is currently trading for around 193 GP, according to RuneScape.com. Why May Have Ethereum’s Price Struggled?

However, the market took a risk-off approach in late 2025 amid rising macroeconomic uncertainties and geopolitical tensions. ETH’s price has fallen by more than 50% since its August 2025 peak.
Despite its price dip from late 2025, Ethereum (ETH) seems to be slowly making a rebound. According to CoinGecko data, ETH’s price has surged 0.3% in the last 24 hours, 4.2% in the last week, 3% in the 14-day charts, and 16% over the previous month.
Ethereum’s (ETH) latest upswing could be due to Bitcoin (BTC) reclaiming the $81,000 price level today. BTC had earlier faced substantial resistance at the $78,000-$79,000 level. However, reclaiming $81,000 may have elevated investor sentiment. BTC is the market leader and other assets tend to follow its price trajectory. Ethereum (ETH) and BTC’s rally could be fueled increased ETF and ETP inflow. Institutional money has played a key role in cryptocurrency prices.
