Tech giant Google announced the launch of its latest artificial intelligence system called “Gemini” on Wednesday. With capabilities surpassing those of current AI models like ChatGPT, Google Gemini aims to push boundaries in language processing and understanding.
Across three size offerings—Gemini Ultra, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano—Google touts Gemini as its most advanced AI yet. Extensive testing shows that Gemini Ultra exceeds state-of-the-art performance on 30 of 32 academic AI benchmarks. It represents breakthroughs in language, image, video, audio, and mathematical tasks.
With a 90% score on a test of abilities spanning math, science, history, and more, Gemini Ultra is the first model to outscore human experts on the massive multitask assessment. Google suggests this demonstrates expert-level knowledge and problem-solving.

How to use Gemini?
Gemini 1.0 is rolling out across various products and platforms. Bard will incorporate a fine-tuned version of Gemini Pro for advanced reasoning, planning, and understanding. The upgrade is set to be available in English across more than 170 countries. The team also plans for expansion into different languages and modalities shortly.
Additionally, Gemini is making its way to Pixel devices. The Pixel 8 Pro will be the first smartphone engineered to run Gemini Nano. This integration powers new features, such as Summarize in the Recorder app and Smart Reply in Gboard. It will initially be launched with WhatsApp, expanding to more messaging apps next year.
Over the coming months, Google plans to integrate Gemini into more products and services to compete with ChatGPT, including Search, Ads, Chrome, and Duet AI. Experimental use of Gemini in Search has already demonstrated a 40% reduction in latency in English in the U.S., alongside improvements in quality.

Developers and enterprise customers can access Gemini Pro via the Gemini API in Google AI Studio starting December 13. Android developers will also leverage Gemini Nano through AICore, a new system capability available in Android 14. This will begin with Pixel 8 Pro devices.
While Gemini Ultra undergoes extensive trust and safety checks, it will be available to select customers, developers, partners, and safety experts for early experimentation and feedback.
