Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is most likely the most highly anticipated video game launch. Rockstar Games has taken 12 long years to release its next flagship game. GTA 5, launched in 2013, broke records that hold to this day. Many anticipate the next title to perform similarly, if not better.

GTA 6 Confirmed For Fall 2025
CEO of Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, spoke at the firm’s Q3 2025 earnings call on Feb. 7, 2025. Zelnick reiterated GTA 6’s fall 2025 launch date.

Zelnick stated, “Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as Sid Meier’s Civilization VII launched in Early Access today, with the official launch on February 11th, and we also plan to release Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall, and Borderlands 4 before year-end.“
What Do We Know So Far About GTA 6?
1. Two Protagonists
Rockstar dropped the trailer for GTA 6 on Dec. 5, 2023. The video has since garnered 239 million views. In the trailer, we are introduced to Lucia and her male counterpart. We may be in for two protagonists this time around.
This won’t be the first time Rockstar has given multiple lead characters. GTA 5 had three protagonists for the player to control. These were the infamous trio of Micheal, Franklin, and Trevor. GTA 6 may bring down the figure to just two.
2. Vice City
GTA 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, which also includes Vice City. We may be introduced to a much larger map than before. Going back to Vice City will hit the nostalgia chord for many gamers.
3. Built-in Cryptocurrency

The GTA titles have always had an in-game monetary system. There is a lot of talk about GTA 6 including some type of built-in cryptocurrency. Many speculate that this currency could be converted into real money outside the game. The currency could be a form of blockchain-based coin system. There is no confirmation from Take-Two or Rockstar on this front.
