Lionel Messi is one of the biggest names in the sports industry. As per the latest news, Messi has joined Sorare as an investor. He also joined the platform as a brand ambassador. Sorare is a France-based NFT card trading game.
Sorare mentioned in a statement that Messi will help ramp up the platform and help establish a connection with clubs and players. Messi will also help Sorare set new standards among the fans and work towards building new fan experiences and content.
Messi acquires equity in Sorare
Sorare mentioned in a statement that Messi has acquired a stake in the platform. This, according to the deal, is without any expansion of his holdings or any other terms. The trading game also considers this to be a “huge milestone.”
“We believe Messi will help us set new standards in how we do this, and we look forward to sharing what new content and fan experiences we’ve been collaborating on soon,” Nicolas Julia, Sorare’s CEO, stated to CNBC.
Sorare manages over five teams in fantasy soccer tournaments and allows users to trade digital cards, or NFTs. The game has over 2 million users spread across 185 countries.
This is not the football legend’s first foray into the cryptocurrency world. Back in March, he had also signed a 3-year agreement with Socios.com.
