Nvidia is launching its Blackwell-powered Jetson Thor developer kit and production modules, a new set of robotics computers designed for physical AI and robotics. Jetson Thor offers 7.5x more AI compute and 3.5x greater energy efficiency compared with its predecessor, Jetson Orin. It is one of Nvidia’s most significant launches this year, and sent NVDA stock higher on Monday after the announcement.
“We’ve built Jetson Thor for the millions of developers working on robotic systems that interact with and increasingly shape the physical world,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “With unmatched performance and energy efficiency, and the ability to run multiple generative AI models at the edge, Jetson Thor is the ultimate supercomputer to drive the age of physical AI and general robotics.”
NVDA Climbs After Jetson Thor Launch
NVDA shares are up 1.8% on Monday and 4.4% in the last 30 days. After a slight dip earlier this Summer, Nvidia stock has recovered in August, and the Jetson Thor launch will fuel that rebound. The company also launched its Blackwell architecture-based processor, the B30AI chip, in China, which propelled shares higher too. The chipmaker is set to unveil its latest quarterly earnings this week, which could cap off a week of gains for the stock, or possible losses if it gives dissapointing results.
Many analysts are optimistic that Nvidia’s Q2 earnings report this week will deliver solid results. However, one analyst suggests that one factor could be the end-all-be-all for the report’s overall grade: China. KeyBanc Capital Markets analyst John Vinh believes that if China is included in Nvidia’s outlook for the quarter ahead and future revenue, it could add billions to what Nvidia projects. “If NVDA were to include China in its guidance, we believe it would contribute an incremental $2-3 billion in revenue, Vinh wrote in a new note to clients.
Analysts expect NVIDIA to report $46.4 billion in revenue and $1.02 EPS in Wednesday’s earnings report, reflecting strong demand for AI technology. Such gains from Nvidia would likely send NVDA stock soaring to $215, per multiple forecasts. The NVIDIA Jetson AGX Thor developer kit is available now, starting at $3,499. Additionally, the Jetson T5000 production modules are available from worldwide distribution partners.
