Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine on the 16th day and it is not showing signs of stopping. This war is also waging on the internet with multiple social media platforms extending support to Ukraine and cutting off Russians. In the latest update, internet content subscription service, OnlyFans donated 500 ETH [roughly around $1.3 million] to UkraineDAO, a decentralized autonomous organization raising funds to support Ukraine.

Per reports, the donation is a part of the company’s larger charitable effort to support Ukraine, led by its Ukrainian-American owner Leonid Radvinsky. As per a source, the company has sent over $5 million to various humanitarian efforts supporting the country and plans to send an additional $1 million by 15th March.

The CEO of OnlyFans stated,

“These tragic events have had a terrible impact on individuals including members of our creator community. Given our strong personal ties to Ukraine, we wanted to support in a way which felt true to who we are at OnlyFans and which focused on getting aid and support to the Ukrainian people.”

UkraineDAO has been a major crypto contributor to Ukraine’s government in recent weeks. It has reportedly received over $50 million in crypto donations since tweeting out its ETH and BTC addresses last month. The largest donation came from founders of Russian art collective Pussy Riot and non-fungible token [NFT] studio Trippy Labs of $6.5 million coming from crowdfunded NFT sale earlier in March. During this round, OnlyFans’ contribution was 500 ETH.

Alona Shevchenko, the creator of UkraineDAO and a Ukrainian activist living in England together with Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova were raising funds to support war-torn Ukraine. As their first NFT was the Ukrainian flag, Tolokonnikova noted that it was a “pure gesture of solidarity.”

Everyone donating to UkraineDao will receive a “POAP”- an NFT meant to denote an important life event. Shevchenko told a media publication,

“This is exactly what DAOs are for, making change offline in the real world harnessing the power of blockchain.”
