SEC Chair Paul Atkins is calling for Congress to pass crypto market structure legislation, saying that now is the time. In a post to X, the SEC Chair said that the SEC and CFTC are all set to pass it, and the task now sits with Congress.
“Project Crypto is designed so once Congress acts, @SECGov & @CFTC are ready to implement the CLARITY Act,” Atkins wrote in his post. “It’s time for Congress to future-proof against rogue regulators & advance comprehensive market structure legislation to President Trump’s desk.” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has already urged lawmakers to advance the comprehensive market‑structure safeguards to Trump’s desk for approval.
