The cryptocurrency market has been vastly divided between different tokens striving to serve different purposes. However, lately, meme cryptocurrencies have taken over the market and it’s not even due to its utility but just for ‘meme’s-sake’. While the favorite meme token keeps changing, CryptoDep released a list on Tuesday of best meme tokens as per the social activity and the winner is not a surprise as it is Shiba Inu.
Shiba Inu has remained the top meme coin for a long time now. Introduced as a potential Doge-killer, the meme asset can not only challenge DOGE but also take over the crypto internet.
As seen in the above picture, the metrics considered to choose the best meme tokens varied from social volume to average sentiment. It would be safe to say, that the Shib army has done a good job in keeping the meme asset trending. According to the list, Shiba Inu reported 79.3k social media posts and topped the list with 61.4 million participants.
Going along with the positive sentiment, the price of SHIB was also on a recovery path. After falling to $0.00002021, the asset jumped by 47% in the past two weeks and was currently trading at $0.00003086.
Meanwhile, Dogecoin was not far behind in the popularity contest and took the second spot. DOGE reported a lower social volume of 54.4k, however, it had a massive engagement volume of 152 million. It also beat SHIB in terms of most social media interactions. Such positivity around DOGE could be due to Elon Musk’s and the community’s tweets to get the pet dog listed on McDonald’s along with a few other platforms.
All of this combined with the Super Bowl weekend, pushed DOGE’s value to $0.1499, at the time of press.
Meanwhile, the cat was not far behind in the competition as CateCoin, a cat-themed meme coin grabbed the third position. The meme coin had an aggregate social volume of 6.66k and was followed by a heavy engagement of 3.26 million. The value of the CATE token noted a surge of almost 12% in the last 24-hours and was exchanging hands at $0.0000197.
Other tokens that made it to the top ten were FLOKI, MARVIN, EARN, PIT, MONSTA, ELON, and BABYDOGE. Although these mem tokens were witnessing good social interactions and positive engagement, it was not enough to compete with the likes of Shiba Inu and Dogecoin.
