Snoop Dogg, aka, The Doggfather, is no stranger to NFT’s, or the crypto space. Today, the music legend will be launching his new NFT collection, titled The Doggies. This is not his first time stepping his toes in the NFT space. He has previously minted and sold several NFT projects. The Doggies is just taking things to the next level.
What are The Doggies?
The Doggies is a collection of 10,000 playable NFTs for The Sandbox that was conceived and crafted by Snoop himself.
According to the website, each avatar will gain access to unique features that go beyond the basic NFT. They’ll be playable in The Sandbox and can be used to get access to future mints and metaverse features. In addition, the NFTs will appear in a Snoop Dogg music video that will be filmed in The Sandbox.
Snoop Dogg stated,
“10,000 avatars that look like me. Got some special moments, special outfits, some exclusives, so make sure you go get it right now,”
Minting will begin at Sandbox on 2/22/22 at 10 p.m. UTC and will cost 150 SAND (plus gas fees). In the game’s second season, each unique Doggie avatar can be used to attend events and concerts, do tasks, hang out with friends, and travel the metaverse like a celebrity.
The avatars will be of varying rarity, as follows:
Human: 63%
Blue: 11%
Alien: 10%
Zombie: 7%
Dogg: 5%
Robot: 3%
Golden: 1%
While two-thirds of the Doggies will be common, there will be three sorts of Doggies with distinct traits and attributes that will set them apart from the pack.
The “dope avatars” are a collection of dope, fresh, and funky Doggies created by Snoop Dogg and his colleagues at The Sandbox. Each one is distinct and one-of-a-kind.
The “classic avatars” are a group of Doggies based on Snoop Dogg’s past. Users can instantly recognise some of Snoop’s biggest tracks over the years because of these special Doggies. One of them is Snoop’s 2007 anthem’s silky exquisite look, with sensuous seduction and an enticing soulful throwback 80’s vibe.
The “signature edition” is a set of Doggies that has never been played with before. The distinctive Doggies, created in collaboration with some of the metaverse’s best artists, appear to symbolize Snoop’s return after a multidimensional voyage.
Snoop Dogg announced a partnership with The Sandbox in September of 2021, which featured the re-creation of his residence in the metaverse.
Inside The Sandbox, the rapper intends to deliver live performances and engage with players. One person even paid $450,000 for the block of land adjacent to Snoop Dogg’s property in The Sandbox.
Is Snoop Dogg the NFT “top Dog”?
Not only is Snoop Dogg launching his new NFT collection, he is also planning on turning his newly acquired Death Row Records, the legendary record label, into an NFT label. Death Row has played a big part in the history of Rap and Hip-Hop music, with names such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and the late Tupac Shakur, associated with it. It truly is a sight to behold to see the label making a comeback, and moving to the future.
