Firstly, while SpaceX is primarily a space venturing rocket company, it also has ties to AI. SpaceX acquired fellow Elon Musk company xAI earlier this year. Hence, while the company has a focus in space technology, it is also involved in the AI sector. This puts SpaceX in some competition with Micron (MU).

While both companies are involved in the AI sector, their services are vastly different. SpaceX’s xAI is behind X’s generative AI chat Grok. The company also boasts an incredibly capable data center with more than 220,000 Nvidia GPUs. SpaceX and Google recently signed a deal which will lead to the latter paying $920 million per month to the former for for AI compute capacity.

Micron (MU), on the other hand, manufactures memory chips that are essential for AI. The company’s High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) are absolutely crucial for AI accelerators, such as Nvidia GPUs.

Which Stock To Buy?

Micron (MU) has been one of the hottest stocks in the US market in 2026. MU’s price climbed to an all-time intraday high of $1089.29 earlier this month. However, the SpaceX IPO likely led to a liquidity drain given the anticipation among investors. While both company’s are on different paths, their AI ventures are one area of commonality.

Now coming to which stock may perform better, let’s look at it like this: SpaceX (SPCX) does not build AI chips. They use Nvidia chips, which in turn use Micron (MU) components. This makes Micron an essential component in the chain.
