Strategy is one of the biggest Bitcoin (BTC) holders in the world. The company took on heavy losses after BTC’s price began to drop in late 2025. The firm said that it will continue to sell BTC to replenish its USD reserve, fund preferred dividends and interest payments, and support share buybacks. These are core parts of the company that need funds, which in the case of Strategy, can only come from selling its BTC holdings.
Unlike a big company, a retail investor does not need to sell Bitcoin (BTC) for dividends, share buybacks, etc. Therefore retail players need not follow Strategy’s pattern. In fact, many investors prefer buying the dip as prices are low.
Will The Market Recover?
There are several factors keeping Bitcoin (BTC) at bay. Firstly, we entered bear territory in late 2025 after increased macroeconomic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions. Things got worse after the US-Iran conflict earlier this year. Inflation is still above the 2% target and interest rates are still high. The environment is not the best for Bitcoin (BTC) to flourish.

However, Bitcoin (BTC) is still well within its four-year trajectory. BTC has hit new peaks every four years; 2017, 2021, and 2025. Bitcoin (BTC) may hit a new all-time high in 2029 if it maintains its four-year pattern. The upward push, however, could start sometime in 2027. Strategy could ramp up its BTC purchases ahead of the next bull run.
