The entire globe was shaken as Elon Musk took reign over Twitter. With his $44 billion acquisition, Musk became the talk of the town. Even though the news broke out days ago, it remains a prominent topic of interest. The latest to be intrigued by Musk’s big purchase was CNN’s David Zurawik.

Zurawik, appearing on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” panel pointed out that the U.S. government had to be more stringent while regulating social media. Citing the switch up in Twitter’s dynamics, he even stressed how dangerous it was with Musk bagging the social media giant.

Dragging Mark Zuckerberg into the conversation, Zurawik said,

“We gave away our internet airwaves to Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk and we are in so much trouble. Those guys believe in making money.”

Calling out Elon Musk’s personality, he said that the governance of the communication channels in the country would pose a major problem.

Why are journalists trying to regulate free speech? Twitter questions

This certainly did not end well. Musk’s grand purchase created a wider divide between Twitter users. While some were happy about Elon Musk’s version of Twitter as they condoned free speech, a few others were hesitant citing his unpredictability.

A multitude of them, however, backed Elon Musk and called out Zurawik for his comments. One Twitter user wondered why members of the news industry were opposing this as they were supposed to be the epitome of protecting speech rights. The tweet read,

“There is a serious problem with the news industry when it’s the people that are supposed to be protecting speech rights are the loudest voices demanding that the government take a more active role in censoring speech.”

From delusional to unhinged, Twitter users from all across the globe went ballistic and labeled Zurawik an array of things.

Another narrative that surfaced was related to fear. Twitterati believed that Zurawik and other news industry biggies were visibly scared of losing control over information. For years, people have been listening to news agencies as credible sources of information. However, now, Elon Musk is expected to change the dynamics up. Therefore, several news platforms are speculated to be spiraling.

Ripple’s CTO, David Schwartz also created a buzz with his tweet.

While speculations about Elon Musk’s version of Twitter take the front stage, the backlash is expected from the higher-ups. The potential inclusion of crypto into the system could make governments across the globe more anxious.
