Elon Musk has announced the new Twitter CEO, former NBC Universal head of advertising Linda Yaccarino. Yaccarino “will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology,” Musk says in a tweet today.
Yaccarino will take over Twitter as CEO in six weeks’ time. Here’s what you need to know about the new CEO.
About New Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino
Yaccarino previously served as the chair of global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal. Her LinkedIn profile labels her role as “the strategic and operational bridge across the entirety of NBCUniversal’s global networks, properties, and business units.”
Since joining NBCU in 2011, her team of over 2000 members, which she looked over, had generated more than $100 billion in ad sales. Her experience in advertising and running that large of a team was a likely motivator behind Musk’s decision to appoint her as CEO.
As chair of the Ad Council, a nonprofit that promotes public service announcements, Yaccarino also garnered support from various entities, including the White House, to design a vaccination campaign featuring Pope Francis that reached more than 200 million Americans.
In terms of following in Musk’s footsteps, new Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino’s interests/knowledge in crypto is unknown. However, she did follow Shiba Inu on Twitter shortly after news broke that she would be taking over the CEO role.
