Why is the Dogecoin Foundation considering suing influencer Matt Wallace?

Strifes among stalwarts keep happening on a regular basis in the crypto space. While sometimes sharing different opinions and not being on the same page translate to cold banters, most others turn out to leave deeper scars.

Charles Hoskinson, for instance, left his role at Ethereum because of boardroom brawls pertaining to how to structure the project. Hoskinson wanted to accept venture capital and create a for-profit entity with a more formal governing structure, while Buterin wanted to keep Ethereum a non-profit organization with open-source, decentralized governance. The difference in opinions made the now Cardano founder dissociate himself with Ethereum in June 2014.

The clash of ideologies usually finds a way to mess up with the ego, and decisions are made in the heat of the moment to merely satisfy one’s insane impulse.

Earlier today, Billy Markus, aka Shibetoshi Nakamoto, took Twitter to highlight how the scammy, shady, and “mostly terrible” crypto space is filled with “terrible people.” In fact, he went to the extent of asserting that there’s “no such thing” like a good community with great leaders.

Joining the cryptic crypto dots

Right after posting the above-embedded tweet, Markus went on to lash out at prominent YouTuber, influencer, and DOGE proponent Matt Wallace.

In a series of tweets, Wallace had revealed earlier that he intended to foster the adoption of Dogecoin payments among retailers globally by educating merchants about the opportunities associated with DOGE payments.

However, here’s the twist to the tale that triggered Markus – Instead of seeking funds for the project in DOGE, Wallace and his team disclosed that they would raise funds to support the initiative by creating a new token dubbed Accept Dogecoin.

The Dogecoin creator outrightly asked Wallace to discontinue the plans of developing a new token for the purpose of “helping” the memecoin. He in fact went on to threaten him with legal action for abusing the Dogecoin trademark and misleading statements capable of luring market participants into investing in the proposed cryptocurrency project.

Markus’ tweet read,

“Matt, literally, you are breaking the law. The Dogecoin Foundation is looking into taking legal action against you. You’re NOT helping dogecoin. Knock it off with this “positivity” thing. There is nothing positive about being a criminal, the thing you are doing.”

He went on to add,

You can also NOT release the trademark violation token with your actual criminal partner, that would be a start to being “positive.” Dogecoin people wouldn’t care if you stopped shilling dogecoin while doing your own shady crap. Stop talking about dogecoin. Go away.

One user went on to highlight that the community thought that Markus and Wallace were “friends” and expressed his concern by stating that their strife helped the community in no way. Replying to the same, Markus opined that Wallace had “jumped the shark” after he started shilling multiple pumps and dumps and got directly involved with them. His reply further noted,

I do not support him at all. He shows no personal growth, no understanding, and keeps getting worse and more and more brazen as he faces no consequences.

Wallace, on the other hand, was prompt to delete his OG tweet. The same now raises questions as to whether or not Wallace’s Accept Dogecoin crypto project, that’s set to launch on 29 March, is even genuine.
