Longtime Democratic Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi has announced she will seek reelection this year, vowing to advance progressive values. Pelosi revealed her run in a tweet, pledging to fight for San Francisco and justice for all if given the chance to continue serving.

Pelosi tweeted, “Our country needs America to show the world that our flag is still there, with liberty and justice for ALL. That is why I am running for reelection — and respectfully ask for your vote.”

Pelosi has cemented herself as a powerful Democratic force during her 36 years in Congress. She made history as the first female Speaker of the House from 2007–2011 and again from 2019 until Republicans took control.

Under Pelosi’s leadership, Democrats delivered substantial legislative wins, including the Affordable Care Act. She also steered the party through two tumultuous Trump impeachments.

But at age 83, questions mounted about Nancy Pelosi’s future after she stepped down as House of Congress Speaker. Speculation intensified when her husband, Paul, was attacked in October.

While Pelosi’s salary as a congresswoman sits around $193,000, her estimated net worth now exceeds $290 million. Financial disclosures show she has amassed millions through stock market investments and other business dealings during her tenure. Pelosi’s announcement shows that she still sees more to accomplish.
