Pro-Ripple XRP Lawyer John Deaton has secured the GOP nomination by winning the Massachusetts Republican primary. John Deaton will now face current Massachusetts senator and Democrat Elizabeth Warren for the senate seat this Fall.
John Deaton is one of the founders of CryptoLaw US in 2021, covering key US legal and regulatory developments in the world of cryptocurrency. He is a known supporter of Ripple XRP, the digital currency of Ripple Labs, who were involved in a high-stakes court battle against the SEC throughout 2023.
Warren, on the other hand, is a strong critic of XRP and all of cryptocurrency. The current Massachusetts senator believes that crypto is a gateway for criminals and wrongdoers to finance their illegal activity. While Deaton was supportive of the passing of Bitcoin ETFs in January, Warren criticized the SEC for the approval. According to Deaton, the current senator had proven ineffectual in addressing issues such as healthcare and America’s southern border.
John Deaton hasn’t put crypto at the face of his Senate campaign. However, his support of Ripple XRP and the crypto industry has been a boost for the community. As digital assets become more of a topic for debate in politics, the more pro-crypto voices in government, the better for crypto as a whole.

The Associated Press reported on Wednesday that Deaton defeated fellow Republican candidates Bob Antonellis, an industrial engineer, and Ian Cain, Quincy’s city council president. Senator Warren is seeking her third Senate term after securing victories in 2012 and 2018. She is currently unopposed for the Democratic nomination. The two have already agreed to two debates, of which crypto may be a topic of discussion.
