The Trump administration has begun deporting illegal Indian migrants in the US in an immigration crackdown starting this month. The deportation drive was carried out through a military plane and departed the US on Monday night. The military plane carried around 205 undocumented Indian immigrants and the government has identified 18,000 illegal aliens living in the country. The other 18,000 Indians will soon be deported from the country and the Indian government is cooperating with the US authorities.

Approximately 725,000 Indian illegal immigrants live in the US and are yet to be identified by the ICE authorities. While some of them have overstayed their student visas, others entered the country illegally through the border. Illegal Indian immigrants make up to 3% of the overall undocumented aliens living in the US with Mexico and other countries being the highest. Trump seeks to deport all illegals from the US in a clean-up drive to keep the nation secure.

Deportation of Illegal Indian Migrants: Trump Spends $4,675 Per Person
Reports state that it cost the Trump administration $4,675 per person to deport illegal Indian migrants to their homeland. The C-17 military aircraft departed from San Antonio Monday night and is set to land in Amritsar. “The United States is vigorously enforcing its border, tightening immigration laws, and removing illegal migrants, and removing illegal migrants. These actions send a clear message: illegal migration is not worth the risk,” said a US spokesperson.

India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed that the Modi government will accept the immigrants flown to the country. “We have always maintained that if any of our citizens are there illegally, and if we are sure that they are our citizens, we have always been open to their legitimate return to India,” he said. Jaishankar revealed that India is against any form of illegal immigration and supports Trump’s move of deportation.
