Two of the largest banks in the United States have joined the growing list of entities limiting usage of the OpenAI-developed chatbot. Bloomberg has reported that Citigroup and Goldman Sachs have imposed ChatGPT restrictions.
ChatGPT is the fastest-growing consumer application in history and has become the talk of the tech world. Yet, there are some businesses that have noted reservations about the technologies integrated into their operation. Moreover, JP Morgan had previously noted similar restrictions.
Growing List of Banks Limit ChatGPT Use
Over the past several months, headlines have been dominated by OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT. The program has blown away users with its advanced capabilities and speaks to the rapid progression of the technology. Conversely, its rapid adoption has left some entities concerned with its implementation.
Among those is a growing list of banks placing limits on the tech. Now, Citigroup and Goldman Sachs have joined JP Morgan in imposing ChatGPT restrictions. Bloomberg notes that the two banks have implanted those restrictions, with Citigroup outright blocking access to the product.
A source told Bloomberg that the limits to the technology are, “part of automated restrictions that are imposed around third-party software,” limiting the program. Subsequently, the three banks could be setting a certain precedent.
Since its arrival, the concern over ChatGPT’s usage has been prevalent in the business sphere. Although some have feared the advanced technology could take their job, many observe it as far too young to integrate into certain operations. Additionally, considering the data privacy concerns of the program, some businesses may be wary of sharing too much information.
