As the BRICS economic alliance continues to grow its members, 30 countries are reportedly interested in being a part of its next expansion. Indeed, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently noted the plethora of countries whose interest has been made known to existing members.
Moreover, the notion arrives as India recently confirmed a previous BRICS agreement. Specifically, the bloc is already committed to issuing a six-nation expansion plan. Similar to its most recent summit, where it introduced Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia.

More Than 30 Nations Seeking Entry Into BRICS
With 2023 arriving at a close in just a few days, the BRICS bloc was undoubtedly a key story for the year. Indeed, its growing prevalence was an undeniable reality in the past few months. With its de-dollarization efforts taking hold, and its quest for multipolarity, the economic alliance is expected to continue growing.
Now, amid its recent action, the BRICS alliance reportedly has 30 countries interested in joining its upcoming expansion. Specifically, they are seeking to be one of another six nations to be inducted at the bloc’s 2024 annual summit. Subsequently, following last year’s expansion plan, when it welcomed five nations.

When discussing interested nations, Lavrov highlighted the developments the bloc will approach before its next summit. Alongside the nations that have joined, Lavrov pointed to “about 30 countries would like to establish partner ties with BRICS,” in a recent interview.
Several countries, including Nigeria and Pakistan, have already been vocal about their desire to join the economic alliance. Subsequently, continued growth appears to be a key part of the Alliances 2024 plan. Additionally, many expect a BRICS currency to be announced at some point next year.
