Blockchain has witnessed heightened adoption recently. Numerous firms and industry giants have adopted the technology. Google is not different, as the technology giant has embraced blockchain through various initiatives.

Now, according to the latest reports, Google Play has modified its policies to allow blockchain-based content in its apps and games. The team is working with Mythical Games to up their web3 gaming, according to a statement from Google Play’s group product manager, Joseph Mills.

Google Play to open up blockchain games to the public

According to the report, with the new updated policies, blockchain games will be made available to the masses. Mills stated that developers must be open about tokenized digital assets and that there should be a clear declaration.

Mills said, “Like with any emerging technology, we must balance innovation with our responsibility to protect users. So, we’ve spoken with developers about responsibly supporting those opportunities while continuing to provide a safe, transparent, and trusted experience for everyone.”

The policy update is also seen as a positive development for developers who envision the creation of engaging experiences through blockchain. The policy also talks about crypto mining. According to the statement, Google Play won’t allow apps that mine cryptocurrencies. However, they will permit apps that will remotely manage cryptocurrency mining.
