$2 trillion asset manager Morgan Stanley has offered its take on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting it doesn’t expect the route to reopen this month. Over the weekend, Morgan Stanley’s energy analyst Martijn Rats said that he now assumes the effective closure of Hormuz lasts through the end of April, with only a gradual recovery in flows thereafter.

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has blocked over 20% of the world’s oil flow. Tech stocks like Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft have retraced in value when oil prices surge, while the global energy market is tanking. The multinational giants would operate with higher capital expenditure and less consumer spending.
