CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced a roadmap for META in building its AI infrastructure, and one thing that stood out in the blueprint was the Muse Spark 1.2 AI model, which he announced would be open-source code for all. He also criticised OpenAI and Anthropic for concentrating power in the AI industry, citing that open-source code is the way out. On the heels of the declaration, Nvidia (NASDAQ Stock: NVDA) could bulldoze Zuckerberg’s idea. The Information reported that the company is also building an open AI model family and challenging its competitors.
This gives Nvidia stock an edge, as the company will not launch one, but four open-source AI models and rise above META. The family will be called Nemotron 4 and is expected to have 1 trillion parameters. META’s open-source model could look small compared to the family of four run by Nvidia. However, safety concerns remain as open-source models do not have curbs on cybersecurity use. The GPU maker has not set a date for release and is currently working on its development.

Clash of the AI Titans: Nvidia Stock At a Better Position Now Against META

Nvidia stock gets an added advantage over META, signalling its aggressive stance to dominate the AI sector. “Nvidia is investing in Nemotron because we believe every company and every country needs accessible frontier open models to strengthen safety and security, accelerate innovation, and provide a foundation they can rely on from one generation to the next,” said Kari Briski, Vice President of Generative AI.
Nvidia had formed a coalition in July with tech companies to develop and share AI tools for AI safety. The company is looking to close the loop on cybersecurity for open-source AI models before the launch of Nemotron 4. If the AI family comes equipped with cybersecurity, META’s Muse Spark could face serious challenges. This makes Nvidia stock a top bet over the Mark Zuckerberg-led company for now.
