Microsoft stock (NASDAQ: MSFT) is struggling to climb above the $500 level despite multiple attempts. It reached a high of $506 in early August but has failed to reclaim the position since then. MSFT has mostly seen price stagnation with little to no traction in the charts. The development is testing the patience of investors, as the equity has been delivering no gains for over 50 days. The price grind comes even after AI-related stocks are skyrocketing in value in September.
On the heels of the price stagnation, investment banking firm Oppenheimer Holdings has reiterated its buy rating for Microsoft stock. Timothy Horan, the Managing Director at Oppenheimer, has also increased MSFT’s price target in the latest prediction. He urged institutional clients to begin taking an entry position and mentioned that Microsoft stock is in a consolidation phase. The analyst wrote in a note to clients on Tuesday (September 22, 2026) that MSFT will soon experience a breakout in value.

Microsoft Stock Price Prediction From Oppenheimer: Hiked MSFT Target Goes Bullish

Oppenheimer’s Timothy Horan increased his Microsoft stock price target to $570. The previous estimate and target for MSFT was $515. The analyst has increased the target by $55, indicating bullishness in the software giant. Microsoft stock opened Wednesday’s trading session at $498, and this marks a profit of $72 per share if traders take an entry position in the equity today. It also marks an uptick and a return on investment (ROI) of approximately 14.5% from its current price of $498.
Therefore, an investment of $1,000 could turn into $1,145 if the price prediction from Oppenheimer turns out to be accurate. Microsoft stock has been cyclical at the $500 level and is looking for a breakthrough. An investment below the $500 range could be beneficial for investors, as the majority of bulls are confident MSFT will kick-start a rally.
