Updates regarding the Shiba Inu (SHIB) Shibarium layer-2 network have recently become very scant. Although Shibarium was supposed to go live in Q3 2022, development delays and technical issues pushed the launch to early 2023. However, the early 2023 date would not stick either.
In mid-April, Shiba Inu (SHIB) lead developer Shytoshi Kusama said that Shibarium could be launched in two to three months. This means that we could see SHIB’s new layer-2 by June (Q2) or August (Q3) of this year. However, Kusama did not give an exact date for the launch.
On the other hand, popular SHIB influencer Lucie recently said that “it all depends on progress and audits.” According to Lucie, Kusama said that “there will be audits.” As per Lucie’s tweet, it appears as though the network is currently being tested for its safety features.
Furthermore, Lucie said that personally, they believe Shibarium could be out by Q3 or Q4 of this year. Last year, Lucie predicted that the beta test net would be out by Q4 2022 or Q1 2023. Lucie was right as the test net went live in March. Therefore, Lucie does seem to have a credible track record.
Will Shiba Inu’s Shibarium network launch by Q4 this year?
Shibarium does not have a good record of meeting its deadlines. The project has missed three launch dates within a year. Therefore, it has become increasingly hard to believe the team when they reveal launch estimates to the community. However, Lucie’s anticipation of a Q3-Q4 launch seems plausible. Even Shytoshi’s own estimates fall in that timeline. Therefore, if things go according to plan, we may finally see Shibarium come to life sometime later this year. If Lucie’s estimates are correct we could have ourselves a new Shiba Inu blockchain by as early as August 2023.
At press time, Shiba Inu (SHIB) was trading at $0.00000910, down by 3.6% in the last 24 hours, and down by 10.2% in the last seven days. The asset has once again gained another zero in front of its price.
