Shiba Inu (SHIB) is on the verge of releasing its layer-2 protocol, Shibarium. However, the team has not yet given an exact launch date. Nonetheless, the community does have a testnet version of the highly anticipated layer-2. Puppynet is the early beta version of Shiba Inu’s (SHIB) layer-2 network, Shibarium. The beta testnet went live on 11 March 2023.
Developers can use Puppynet to deploy dApps (decentralized applications) on Shibarium. Puppynet is the first publicly available release around Shiba Inu’s Shibarium network. The beta testnet can also be used by businesses as their decentralized backend, crypto payment gateway, or decentralized governance module. However, it should be noted that no real cryptocurrencies exist on Puppynet. This is an important point, as impersonators have begun creating fraudulent assets that plagiarize the name, logo, and popularity of SHIB.
SHIB’s lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, said that Puppynet is the first incarnation of Shibarium. Since the network is in its beta stages, it can only be used for testing, research, and entertainment. Shibarium will use Heimdall validator nodes and Bor block producer nodes in a dual-layer structure akin to that of Polygon. The Tendermint consensus engine will be used by Heimdall, and Bor will guarantee complete Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility.
How to use Shiba Inu’s Shiabrium Puppynet?
Puppynet is available to anybody who is interested in using Shibarium. Interested people can go to the Shibarium Tech website and register themselves. However, people who want a “red carpet” experience and “top-notch support,” can fill out the Shibarium Technology intake form.
Moreover, the developers have created an RPC (remote procedure call) node toolkit in case a SHIB enthusiast is not interested in running their own nodes on Shibarium.
The project has also begun accepting forms for validators. Shibarium validators will receive rewards in Bone Shibaswap (BONE) and an additional token, TREAT, which is yet to be revealed. Shiba Inu (SHIB) plans of releasing a stablecoin in the future as well, called Shi.
Shibarium is expected to change the way people utilize Shiba Inu (SHIB). Upon launch, SHIB will cease to be an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain. It will have its own network, which may see a boost in real-world use cases.
