The global cryptocurrency market cap reached $1 trillion on Tuesday with more than 21,000 cryptos trading in the indices. While the majority of cryptos are obscure and new, only a handful of them is well known in the markets. Market research firm ICO Analytics published a survey showcasing the most discussed cryptos of September 2022. The data shows that interest in the markets dipped last month as leading coins like XRP, and Binance Coin, among others, saw a drop in ‘mentions’ on Twitter.

As per data released by ICO Analytics, the top 10 most discussed cryptos on Twitter in September 2022 are:

  1. Solana (SOL): 22%
  2. Ethereum (ETH): 16%
  3. LUNC: 11%
  4. Bitcoin (BTC): 5.3%
  5. USDT: 4.5%
  6. Shiba Inu (SHIB): 4.4%
  7. XRP: 2.4%
  8. Binance (BNB): 2.4%
  9. Elrond (EGLD): 1.8%
  10. Cardano (ADA): 1.7%

Bitcoin stood in the third position in August 2022 and is now standing fourth. Shiba Inu was in the fourth position in August and has now slipped to the sixth spot.

BTC and SHIB ‘mentions’ on Twitter dipped as both the cryptos failed to perform as per investors’ expectations. Bitcoin failed to climb above the $20,000 mark last month and Shiba Inu failed to rally in the indices.

On the other hand, Dogecoin which was in 10th position in August has now been moved to the 11th spot. The reason that the once most talked about crypto is out of the top 10 list is that Doge has barely spiked in price. Dogecoin has not gone above $0.10 since May and is only dipping as each month pass.

Though the meme-coin spiked 9% today, it could be a one-off as news about Tesla CEO Elon Musk buying Twitter has resurfaced. Musk has proposed to buy Twitter for $54.20 a share for the original price of $44 billion. Twitter (TWTR) shares jumped 18% in the day’s trade and closed at 10% due to the development.
