The Shiba Inu community has had reasons to celebrate during 2022. The project has been expanding into several traditional verticals such as gaming, food, and fashion. While the community keeps a track of SHIB’s progress, many are eagerly awaiting the launch of Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s layer-2 solution. Some considered that Shibarium would push the value of the native token, BONE.
BONE, which will be used as a native gas token on Shiba Inu’s layer 2 scaling solution Shibarium, was currently trading at less than a dollar, at $0.706. Many believe that Shibarium’s official launch would propel BONE’s price to new heights.

BONE’s Utility
Additional details on BONE were revealed during the announcement of Doggy Dao – an organization through which the community can vote on future SHIB-related projects and decisions. BONE’s utility was extended to being a governance token and a means to participate in the voting process. The more BONE the user holds, the more weight their vote carries in these future endeavors.
Recognizing its importance in the Shiba Inu project, community members have already begun accumulating BONE at a rapid rate. The token was held by a record 40,500 holders on 27 February.
Shibarium Launch
Details on Shibarium’s exact release are unknown at the moment. However, Unification Foundation, a blockchain firm behind the scaling solution, announced that a testnet version will be launched this year.
“We are still continuing the development of Shibarium, a Layer 2 technology in our partnership with the Shiba Army. This allows for fast, low-cost transactions that are optimized for gaming. Although the scale of the project is not yet possible to release a definite schedule, the second version of the Shibarium private testnet is already live,” Unification Foundation said during the week of February.
