Move over Nike, Adidas and Under Armour, Crocs is the latest footwear brand to hope onto the NFT wagon. A recent trademark application filed by the firm revealed its interest in going digital.
Non-fungible tokes popularly known as NFTs seem to be amassing all the attention. The digital metamorphism that the globe underwent, not only spruced up the financial world but also revolutionized art. With almost every celebrity, firm, and artist showcasing their work digitally, the NFT space witnessed significant growth over the last couple of months.
Crocs certainly did not want to endure a digital setback. Therefore, the firm decided to embrace NFTs. Earlier this, the footwear giant filed a trademark application in order to issue NFTs.
The application read,
“Downloadable computer software for creating, managing, storing, accessing, sending, receiving, exchanging, validating and selling digital assets, digital collectibles, digital tokens and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).”
Crocs is yet to attain a green signal as the application. The application filed was for “intent-to-use” which suggested that the firm would soon be launching its NFT line and use it in commerce.
Crocs to join its counterparts in the NFT realm
Not too long ago, prominent sportswear firms like Adidas, Nike, and Under Armour revealed that they were expanding into NFTs. Under Armour went ahead and already rolled out an NFT. Nike made a big purchase of a platform that designs them. Adidas also pocketed a whopping $23 million in sales following the launch of its first NFT.
Adhering to the ongoing trend and getting on par with its counterparts, Crocs decided to make a debut in the NFT space.
Despite the fact that NFTs exist only digitally, people continued to pour their money into them. The fact that there can’t be another one, since they are “non-fungible” is speculated to be the reason behind its ever surging popularity.
