The development will kickstart the acceptancy of cryptocurrencies across Australia. Other retail giants are also expected to follow its success route.

On The Run, who’s parent company is Peregrine Corporation, is collaborating with Crypto.com to integrate the crypto payment merchant services. A Sydney-based payment systems provider will roll out crypto payment methods at the check-out terminals. Shoppers can pay through Crypto.com app and purchase products at the store with their desired crypto holdings.

Peregrines’ executive chairman Yasser Shahin stated that OTR intends to tap into the momentum of cryptos by providing various payment options to its customers. “The growth and mainstream acceptance of cryptocurrency adoption in Australia and the rest of the world has been phenomenal, and has offered us a clear opportunity to tap into the momentum of this fast-growing space for the benefit of our customers,” he said to CoinTelegraph.
