Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro has announced the nation’s decision to end all diplomatic relations with Israel. Indeed, Petro made the announcement Wednesday, stating that the decision was reached following Israel’s ongoing actions in Gaza.
In late March, Petro had threatened to break diplomatic ties with the country. Specifically, Colombia warned of its impending decision if Israel refused to comply with the U.N. Security Council resolution that called for an immediate ceasefire.

Colombia President Announces End to Israel Relations

Now, another country has been added to the list. Specifically, Colombia’s president has announced that the nation is ending all diplomatic with Israel, according to reports. Petro said that he would break those relations because of the ongoing actions of the nation in Gaza.

Petro has not been shy about his feelings toward Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Moreover, the Colombian PResident has recently requested to join South Africa’s case in the accusation of genocide levied toward Israel to the International Court of Justice.
The decision follows a stark warning issued by Petro in late March. He had celebrated recent resolution orders fora. ceasefire, and urged nations to suspend ties with Israel if it does not comply.
In response to the threat, Israel had stated that it would not “give in to any pressure and threats.” However, Petro has made good on the warning with his announcement today. Conversely, the military offensive in the Gaza Strip has resulted in more than 32,000 deaths according to Gaza’s health ministry.
