The OG meme crypto Dogecoin [DOGE] was taking a backseat as other meme coins like Shiba Inu [SHIB] soared to the top. Now, DOGE was back in action as the biggest BSC whales were smitten by the DOGE bug.
Dogecoin witnessed a dainty drop over the last 24-hours. Making use of the opportunity, the 1000 biggest BSC whales decided to hold on to the meme coin. With a total value of $48,985,958, DOGE climbed back into the list of ‘top 10 holdings by 1000 biggest BSC whales.’ While Binance Coin [BNB] topped the list, other honorable mentions were Ethereum [ETH] as well as Polygon [MATIC].
WhaleStats reported this movement on Twitter.
Furthermore, Dogecoin holders were on the move. The soaring popularity of DOGE seemed to be attracting a multitude of individuals interested in the meme coin. Recently, the total number of DOGE holders surpassed 500,000, and ever since these numbers have been on an uptrend.
More recently, the meme coin broke its own record as the current holder count surged to a high of 540,034. Additionally, the top 1000 BNB wallets were holding a whopping 324,663,141 DOGE worth about $51,057,103.
Dogecoin, Shiba Inu continue to amass support
Dogecoin and Shiba Inu had a great run these past couple of months. From Tesla to the US Figure Skating team, everyone wanted in on the meme coin fun. Yet again, both these dog-inspired meme coins managed to bag support from a prominent marketing firm IZEA.
The platform revealed that it would be accepting several cryptocurrencies as payment. While it was obvious that Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum [ETH], and Litecoin [LTC] were a part of the list, the addition of Shiba Inu and Dogecoin surprised many. Further revealing the reason behind this inclusion, the CEO and Founder of IZEA, Ted Murphy said,
“Although Bitcoin and Ethereum are the leaders in the crypto space by market cap, our research shows that they are not always the preferred cryptocurrencies of our customers and creators. Accepting Dogecoin, Litecoin, Shiba Inu Coin, and Crypto.com Coin is a direct response to the needs and interests of our creator community.”
