Since the $44 Million acquisition of the social media platform went public, the changes have come fast and furious. And they don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, as Elon Musk has seemingly just confirmed that creators will be able to monetize their content on Twitter.
It was a developing story that dominated headlines last week. The Tesla Inc. co-founder had finally been positioned as the new owner of one of the biggest social media platforms in the world. And as many expected, the changes have been plentiful.
Twitter Blue offering monetization to content creators
Firings, resignations, and alterations to the Twitter Blue subscription platform have followed the acquisition. And it seems as though the social media network is getting a massive change for the content creators utilizing it.
In a series of Tweets, Musk spoke out against what he referred to as the “current lords & peasants system” of the platform. And he committed to changing that, starting with the price of Twitter Blue.
The new owner indicated that this will come with a plethora of new benefits, including priorities in replies and half as many advertisements. He concluded by noting a very interesting change to the foundation of Twitter.
In regard to the changes, Musk stated, “This will also give Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators.” Succeeded by a Tweet centered around creator payment, Musk responded, stating it was “Absolutely essential. Creators need to make a living!”
Although specifics have not been relayed, this is evidence enough to suggest that Elon Musk is configuring the platform for creators to monetize their content on Twitter. Something that, to many, is long overdue.
