The founder of HEX crypto, Richard Heart came out in support of the Canadian truckers ‘freedom convoy’. The truckers mobilized and formed a movement against the vaccine mandates. The Justin Trudeau government in return blocked all their flow of funds. The GoFundMe page was first taken down. Later their only hope to receive funds was through cryptocurrencies.

However, 34 crypto wallets connected to the ‘freedom convoy’ are sanctioned and authorities are investigating the donations.

The crypto wallets had received donations of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Monero, and Cardano among many others. The truckers are now unable to withdraw both fiat currency and cryptocurrency after the sanctions came into place.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also deemed the protests as illegal citing the Emergencies Act. This is the first time the law is being put in place since it was passed in 1988. The Emergencies Act gives authorities the power to investigate anti-money laundering/anti-terrorist financing rules. The law also allows authorities to scrutinize crowdfunding platforms, payment service providers, cryptos among others.

Canada’s Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) sent an advisory to all crowdfunding platforms and payment service providers to register with FINTRAC.

“All crowdfunding platforms and the payment service providers they use now must register with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC), and must report large and suspicious transactions to FINTRAC,” a spokesperson said to CoinDesk.

This has dented the finances of the ‘freedom convoy’ making it harder for them to operate as a unit.

HEX’s Richard Heart came out in support of the Freedom Convoy. He criticized the government’s move to not let the Canadian truckers use their funds for a cause.

Speaking exclusively to Watcher Guru, Richard Heart said, ”For thousands of years men have been able to exchange value with each other, without begging permission of the state. Now governments are avoiding the due process of law by taking a guilty until proven innocent stance on you using your own money.”

Nonetheless, despite facing opposition and crackdown by the government, the truckers are still on the streets fighting for their rights.
