In a recent tweet, Billy Markus, the founder of Dogecoin (DOGE), has revealed how much money he made from the project. According to the tweet, Markus had sold his Dogecoin holdings in 2015 in order to pay his rent. And the total amount he received for his share was a mere $3000. Dogecoin is a billion-dollar project today, and it is quite unbelievable that the founder only made a few thousand bucks off the project.

In the tweet, Markus has also pointed out that people often call him salty. He says,

“Of course I’m salty”

But he clarifies as to why exactly he is salty. In his opinion, watching scammers and shady projects make millions of dollars, while at the same time people attacking him instead has altered his outlook and turned him salty.

Markus no longer has any control over Dogecoin (DOGE), and he says it is annoying when people come up to him and ask him to make them rich.

Markus is tired of scammers using the Dogecoin name to make money

In a recent set of events, Dogecoin influencer Matt Wallace was accused by Markus of pulling off a rugpull. Wallace had wanted to start a crypto project named “Accept Doge”, however, upon facing backlash from the Dogecoin community, he changed it to “Accept Crypto”. The token was launched on the 29th of March and the project was an absolute failure. The token was instantly rugged and it tanked 99%.

Scammers and fraud artists are plenty in the crypto space, and they often walk away with large sums of money. This is exactly what Markus is talking about when he says that he is tired of scammers getting “well rewarded” for their crimes.

It is always exciting to hear about new projects and their utilities, but it is of the utmost importance to do diligent research before investing time and capital into them.
