Russia’s attitude toward cryptocurrencies has always been either left or right. The country’s stance on digital assets has always been confusing.

Almost the whole cryptocurrency community also erupted against the nation for waging war on Ukraine. The Bank of Russia has been telling about plans to approve cryptocurrency for cross-border payments.

Now in a recent announcement, the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance have agreed on a bill to utilize cryptocurrencies for cross-border settlements.

Russia made the announcement in a Thursday report

Russian Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev reportedly stated that the government agency and the central bank have “on the whole” agreed on a rule that would permit citizens to send cross-border payments using cryptocurrencies. Moiseev made the announcement in a report published on Thursday by the Russian publication Kommersant.

“Now we have a bill in this part already agreed with the Central Bank on the whole … It generally describes how to acquire cryptocurrency, what can be done with it, and how it can or cannot be settled with it in the first place in cross-border settlements,” said the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Finance.

Moiseev said that proposal is with the vision to provide the people of Russia with access to crypto wallets. He compared it to how people are freely able to use the internet. The decision by the government is also to minimize Russians opening crypto wallets outside the country. He believes that the people of the country can do it inside the country under the Central Bank’s supervision.

Now that the country has moved towards a much more positive stance, it can aid the crypto enthusiasts of the nation to make more cross-border payments. Since crypto is clearly a quicker and easier mode of payment, it can aid in boosting the inflow of funds.
