US President Donald Trump is again calling on the Senate to pass the Crypto Clarity Act, which still hangs in the balance on the Senate floor. Trump feels the Senate must pass the landmark legislation to honor South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, who died over the weekend after a sudden illness.
“In honor of Senator Lindsey Graham, a big supporter, the U.S. Senate should pass the Clarity Act,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “China, and many other countries, would like to take complete and total control of this major financial ‘happening,’ as well as A.I., where we are now leading, but where they are fighting hard. Don’t let China win on either subject!!!”
It’s important to note that the 71-year-old senator did not serve on the two committees involved in drafting the crypto legislation and was primarily focused on foreign policy issues, such as a new Russian sanctions package and the war in Iran, before his passing. However, in his support for the US President, Graham was a proponent of getting the crypto act approved, something that is high on Trump’s agenda.

The Crypto CLARITY Act will provide regulatory clarity to prevent companies from facing contradictory or ambiguous rules from the SEC and CFTC. Additionally, the act also aims to maintain US leadership in digital finance by creating a framework that encourages domestic blockchain development. The bill passed the House of Representatives in July 2025 and cleared two Senate committees before Memorial Day 2026.
Trump has repeatedly urged lawmakers to get the bill across the finish line. However, his own involvement in the industry has been a key sticking point in negotiations, as Democrats seek a provision restricting elected officials’ ability to profit from digital assets. The passage of this bill will further unlock cryptocurrency’s pathway into traditional finance, likely helping the industry surge and major assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum to skyrocket.
