One of the most influential billionaires globally, Bill Gates, is looking ahead to 2022 becoming the best year of his life, especially for the digital future. According to Gates, 2021 has been the most challenging year in his life. The Microsoft co-founder revealed the future of work and how it will change with the rise of the Metaverse.

The Metaverse virtual world is growing by the day. Tech companies like Facebook have even changed their name to Meta. Now Microsoft is also building up to allow users to work, play, and socialize. According to  Bill Gates, the Metaverse will be hosting most office meetings in about two or three years.

Gates notes that the Covid-19 has revolutionized the workplace, according to his blog. This has even made many companies offer flexibility for their employees who work remotely. The changes will intensify in the years to come, and working remotely will pull more people into the Metaverse.

Gates predicts that most virtual meetings will be migrating to the Metaverse, a 3D space with digital avatars. Gate writes in his blog that Metaverse has a 3D avatar space that will help users attend meeting in digital offices and other places, thereby replacing most video conferencing platforms like Zoom and Teams(of Microsoft).

The idea of Avatar is to help you meet with people in the virtual space, replicating the feeling of being in an actual room with them. However, users will need virtual reality headsets to accomplish this.

Gates, who stepped down from the Microsoft board, says that Microsft is building more 3D avatars and other metaverse elements on its Teams Software workplace. He adds that Microsoft’s Teams might have a clear on-ramp to the Metaverse now that the tech company will be partnering with Meta-formerly Facebook.

Why Metaverse

Digitization is here with us, but our technologies will have to be upgraded to fit this digitization mode. Now the software will enable innovation. The more we continue using the digital world, the more impact we will get. Metaverse is here to improve and bring changes in the following areas.

Metaverse will improve on this but a higher dimension than Zoom and Teams. Tons of companies are working on 3D avatars, which will reflect the experience of being together in an office.

Education Sector

Schools go back to in-person instructions except for a few remote options for older high school students. Metaverse presents the ability to study in one classroom using digital education tools. the primary intention is to increase classroom learning rather than replace it.

Health Care Sector

Medical fields will be able to improve by using metaverse technology. For instance, if a patient were to see a therapist, they would not have to go through the trouble of traffic and travel. All you will need is the VR googles and meet with your therapist, thereby saving time and money. Furthermore, many people constantly feel secure in their own space than in the clinical setting.
