The sales and earnings projections are not surprising, given that GTA 5 is the highest-selling video game ever. Upon launch, GTA 5 caused mass panic due to limited copies. People went as far as stabbing other buyers to get their hands on a copy. That is the impact the Grand Theft Auto series has had on players. The GTA series has been one of the most iconic and successful game series, and fans cannot wait to hear more about the next iteration of Rockstar Games’ flagship product.
GTA 6 will not have the series’ main writer
One of the biggest changes in the next GTA will be the absence of Dan Houser. For those unaware, Hauser has written, or co-written, almost all of the titles in the Grand Theft Auto series. Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, disclosed Houser’s resignation from Rockstar Games in February 2020. After a lengthy absence in 2019, he parted ways with Rockstar on March 11, 2020.
In September 2022, Houser joined the Revolving Games advisory board after contributing to the blockchain gaming studio’s $13.2 million fundraising round. Therefore, maybe we could see a blockchain game title from Hauser shortly.
Regardless, this will be the first Grand Theft Auto title that has not been written by Houser. Therefore, players could expect a change in the overall environment and story for GTA 6.
Nonetheless, the game will still probably sell like hotcakes, as GTA titles often do. Rockstar is yet to release a trailer, or poster, or even give an official launch date, but the hype continues to grow.
